If you’re looking to travel to Hanoi and don’t feel like hanging out at ‘Hanoi Backpackers’ with a bunch of drunken bro’s, you should pay a visit to the LGBTQ friendly bars/clubs in town. Here is a list of the bars that are lesbian and LGBTQ friendly.
Sidewalk is an LGBTQ-owned and oriented bar. It attracts really friendly people who identify as LGBTQ and people who identify as LGBTQ allies. Many expats make Sidewalk their go-to bar. It is an outdoor bar with a chill beer garden sorta feel. They have awesome weekly events and a variety of drink specials to please everyone. They even have Magners cider on tap! #winning!
Address: 199A Nghi Tàm, Yên Phụ, Tây Hồ, Hà Nội, Vietnam
Golden Cock, otherwise known as GC is a well known gay bar in Hanoi. It mostly attracts gay men but it welcomes lesbians and all LGBTQ members. It’s conveniently located near the Old Quarter and stays open pretty late. It’s the type of bar where you can go find a sexy fling, meet locals, or just have a drink with your friends.
Address: 5 Bảo Khánh, Hàng Trống, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam
Savage is more of a ‘high-end’ LGBTQ bar/nightclub. When you walk in, it feels like you’ve walked into a posh bar in London. It has a dark and sexy feel to it. Everyone dresses nicer and they even have a well-dressed security guard at the door. They do have a cover charge and the drinks are a bit on the pricier side, but if you want a reason to dress nice and have a glass of wine, Savage is the place.
Address: 112 Xuân Diệu, Tứ Liên, Tây Hồ, Hà Nội, Vietnam
Birdcage is where everyone goes for the after party. If you feel like dancing and drinking until the sun comes up, you’re likely to end up at Birdcage. This bar/club is also LGBTQ-owned and it attracts a large portion of the LGBTQ community in Hanoi. They have a weekly Queer night and the bi-weekly LGBTQ Hanoi meetups usually end up at Birdcage. It is also an outdoor venue with different areas to hang out. They have the dance floor, the bar, the back hangout rooms, the front tall tables, the swimming pool area, and the pond area. It’s truly a great place!
Address: Alley 264 Au co, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam
The Grove is not a lesbian bar or an LGBTQ bar per se, but they are known to welcome the LGBTQ community of Hanoi with open arms. This being said, it’s frequented by many LGBTQ expats and locals. They often host LGBTQ events and have events of their own. They also have free food and free drinks on certain nights. The Grove is an outdoor bar with a very chill atmosphere; it makes it the perfect hangout place during sunny days.
Address: Ngõ 12, Ngõ 12 Đặng Thai Mai, Quảng An, Tây Hồ, Hà Nội, Vietnam
I know that when we travel to a new city, we always look up lesbian bars so I hope this list can help people who are traveling to Hanoi or new expats in town. If you know of any other lesbian bars or LGBTQ friendly bars in Hanoi, please let us know!
